College: What You Should Know Before You Begin
College: What You Should Know Before You Begin You're in your first year of college, and already you can see how much it costs just to attend. There are so many things you have to pay for, such as tuition and books. Your wallet may be feeling the crunch, but you don't have to worry. Here are a few tips for the college student who wants to save money. When preparing to attend college, sit down and write a list of all the items you'll need to bring. Part of being college ready is the ability to handle your own problems, instead of expecting your parents to bail you out all the time. This is especially something to do if your classes aren't that close to home. Make the effort to get to know each of your instructors. Use office hours to visit each instructor at least once during the term. If the instructor is teaching a class in your major or intended major, spend more time in office hours. When you need a letter of recommendation, it will be easier if your instructors know you. When your classes begin, you have to get acquainted with your instructors. For starters, write down their office hours and location. You can also use your student email to contact them. It's critical to have a good relationship with them if you need extra time on an assignment or their understanding on another issue. When you go to college you often times will stay out late with friends to study or go to a party. Be safe, never walk home alone, carry your phone with you at all times, know where the safe zones are on campus, and consider carrying a small spray canister of pepper spray with you. As you've already noticed, college can be a big drain on your funds. There are many costs that accumulate and it seems like they never end. The cost of getting your degree and living the college life can be easily decreased when you use the tips given in this article.
